How to Report a Fake Google Review About Your Salon

SOMOS Editorial · Updated November 1, 2026

Report reviews that violate Google policy and respond professionally while the report is evaluated.

1. First distinguish fake from negative

Google does not remove a review simply because it is critical or unfair in your opinion. Report content only when you have a genuine reason to believe it violates Google policy, such as fake engagement, impersonation, harassment, or prohibited content.

2. Report through the Business Profile

Open your business reviews from the verified profile, locate the review, use the available report option, and select the accurate policy reason. Follow Google’s review-management process and retain the case details.

3. Prepare evidence

Keep appointment logs or relevant business records privately, without publishing customer personal information or trying to identify anonymous reviewers publicly. If the report is rejected, use any available appeal or review-management options Google provides.

4. Write a calm public response

If appropriate, thank the reviewer for feedback, state that you could not verify the experience without accusing the person of lying, and invite a private discussion through the salon’s contact channel. Avoid revealing appointment details.

5. Never buy reviews or suppress criticism

Do not offer discounts or rewards for positive reviews or for removing negative reviews. Ask for genuine feedback consistently from real customers.
