Why Isn’t My Salon Showing as a Red Pin on Google Maps?

SOMOS Editorial · Updated November 1, 2026

Troubleshoot verification, address, pin placement, duplicate profiles, and local search ranking.

1. Start by checking whether the salon is listed at all

Search the salon’s exact name and address in Google Maps and Google Search, including while signed out. A business can have a listing without ranking for broad searches such as “hair salon near me.” The familiar red pin is not guaranteed to display at every zoom level or search query.

2. Check Business Profile verification and restrictions

Sign in with the Google Account that manages the salon. Check if the profile is verified, pending verification, suspended, or disabled. If unverified, complete the method Google offers. If restricted, follow the appeal or remediation guidance rather than creating a duplicate.

3. Confirm the public address and marker

If customers visit the salon, check that the street address is accurate, that its map pin is positioned correctly, and that the salon is eligible to show its address publicly. Do not invent a storefront address or use an ineligible virtual office.

4. Improve discoverability without gaming the map

Use a precise salon primary category, current hours, a working phone number, real business photos, accurate services, and an up-to-date website. Avoid stuffing city names into the business name. Google considers relevance, distance, and prominence; verification alone does not guarantee a first-page result.

5. Give edits time and monitor

New profiles can take time to appear in broader search. Google says updates can take days to propagate. Search exact name first, then nearby generic searches and record changes across a few weeks. If the business is absent after verification, use Google Business Profile support.
