If you’re comparing Jobber and SOMOS, the most important distinction is that SOMOS Booker and SOMOS Solo are different products. The fair comparison for a contractor or service-business owner is Jobber Core vs. SOMOS Solo — not Jobber vs. our appointment-only Booker app.

At a glance: SOMOS Solo is the quotes, jobs, scheduling, invoicing and customer-management workspace being tested in an invitation-only beta. SOMOS Booker is focused on appointment scheduling, and Booker Free is $0/month. SOMOS Projects is an alpha-stage platform for more involved commercial trades and multi-crew operations.

Why owner-operators compare Jobber alternatives

Jobber is an established field-service management platform with substantial capabilities. For businesses running crews, recurring work and sophisticated operations, its breadth can be valuable. But independent operators often ask a simpler question: Do I need everything in a mature field-service suite, or do I mainly need the everyday customer-to-payment workflow?

That daily workflow is often straightforward: manage leads and customers, build quotes, schedule work, send invoices, accept payments, and let clients request appointments or approve work. SOMOS Solo is designed around those essentials, aiming for simpler pricing and fewer moving parts as small teams grow.

Pricing complexity and paying for functionality that goes unused are understandable reasons to compare providers. They are not proof that Jobber lacks those functions. The right evaluation is whether a platform's actual tools, support, and total cost match your business.

What does SOMOS Solo plan to cost?

The following is proposed pricing, not a currently purchasable public plan. Solo is currently invitation-only, so treat these as intended launch prices rather than a live checkout offer.

Proposed Solo base: $29/month month-to-month for one full user, or $19/month when billed annually ($228 upfront).

Proposed additional seats: office assistant +$5/month; field worker +$3/month. Customer portal access is intended to remain free for external customers.

Assistant and field-worker role permissions, limits, time cards, and other add-on capabilities remain subject to release testing and final packaging. The intended approach is to include everyday booking and customer-portal workflows in Solo's base plan while offering more advanced automation and job operations as optional upgrades.

Three products, one growth path

Stage 1: Owner-operator — SOMOS Solo

Handle customers, requests, quotes, jobs, appointments, invoices, and online payment links in a single workspace. This is the part of SOMOS designed to compete with the owner-operated use case of Jobber Core.

Stage 2: Small crew — Solo plus optional upgrades

As the business adds people, the intended roadmap includes additional role-based seats, automation, time tracking and job-costing tools. Some capabilities remain planned rather than generally available.

Stage 3: Multi-crew operations — SOMOS Projects

Projects is in alpha, with a more advanced direction covering field coordination, inventory, purchasing, dispatch and project financial controls. It is not yet a public, fully released replacement for mature multi-crew systems.

Who should choose Jobber?

Who should consider SOMOS Solo?

When is SOMOS Booker the better fit?

If you run a salon, studio, appointment-based consulting business, or another business that chiefly needs online bookings and a calendar, you probably don't need the full Solo workflow. SOMOS Booker is the scheduling-first product. Booker Free is $0/month, subject to future changes, and has a different purpose from both Jobber and Solo.

Bottom line: compare your actual workflow, not just a checklist

Jobber Core already includes core functions such as online booking and Client Hub, so the meaningful SOMOS Solo pitch is not that Jobber lacks those basics. It is that Solo is being designed as a focused, lower-cost alternative for smaller teams, with a proposed straightforward seat structure and an eventual path into Projects.

Evaluate both products against your own requirements — the cost of processing payments, time spent managing quotes and jobs, reporting quality, reliability, and the features you cannot afford to lose.
